WHY. SO. LONELY? The life of a zombie can be a lonely one. Like anyone, zombies crave companionship. It's just too bad that their main friendship-making techniques involve gruesome force. But hey, it beats dying alone! A glimpse at our surroundingsThere's something about small towns that just makes them feel so safe and cozy...
Bob put his rig into a lower gear as he finished cresting a hill on a rural road somewhere in Ohio. It was early morning and a fog was settling in over a small town in the distance. He took another sip of his cheap coffee as he was approaching one of the few mileage signs he had seen in hours. Knockemstiff - 20 mi. "Knockemstiff? What a dang stupid name for a town!" But as Bob drove on he couldn't help but feel an eerie atmosphere ahead starting to put weight on something deep down within him. That feeling quickly subsided as Bob proceeded to let out a tremendous fart that was followed by a slight of indigestion.
Too often told are tales of shotgun-wielding figures of masculinity blasting through waves of zombies, splattering brains and racking up more ammo per splatter. The Dead Lemon is tired of this story. We're an underdog in this game and so we want to see the underdog be the victor!

TURN THE TABLES! Lonely Undead is a board game that pits (very recently infected) zombies (Z's) head-to-head against a small town of wannabe heroes, innocent bystanders, and other freshly turned Z's. To be victorious as a Z, bite and infect the most townsfolk as possible and keep a hold of your Limbs. Your limbs are what keep you together. Lose them and lose the game. Each player embodies a different Z with its own distinct set of special abilities and styles fitting to their character. If the characters can be harnessed effectively depends on a number of factors, for this is no push over town and you're not the only one out looking for friends. be the zombie!Plan and navigate your way about town. See a living person you want to befriend? Attack them! But be careful who you walk up on.
You might not always enjoy who you discover. Your targets are The Living and are revealed when drawn from the Living Pile. Each has its own set of attributes and bonuses that you have to try to beat. If they're stronger than you, hope that chance is on your side.
Beware the town When all the players have finished causing mayhem on their turns, the town gets its turn and retaliates. Apparently they don't like being preyed upon and bodies lying in the streets?
The Town Phase consists of the player's drawing Reaction cards and suffering the consequences of their shenanigans. Some reactions are tragic events such as a dog catching your scent and wanting to tear your limbs off. Others could just be more Living coming out to take a selfie with you. roll some die! Like rolling dice? You'll get plenty of opportunities as you must roll the Chance die (red) with every sound check and attack. You may be plenty stealthy, but a lot can happen when you're sneaking up on the Living. Let's hope you're also lucky! And when you go in for the bite, you'll roll the Bite Die (green) in hopes of landing one of your Bite Numbers. |
Lonely Undead is broken up into two main phases; The Z Phase and the Town Phase. During the Z Phase, players will take their turns completing a number of actions:
Watch out for other Z's trying to sabotage your plans!
Other Z's will do their best to try to keep you from infecting your new buddies. How rude. Let's hope they can't stop you. Look for supplies!Everyone stronger than you? Feeling slow? Gather supplies as an action by drawing from the Aid Pile and hope you find something to support you. Maybe Socks?
Bite some people! After the town is done, it's back to Z Phase and back to biting!
Biting and infecting the Living is the main object of the game. After a successful attack you get a chance to bite. Z will roll the six-sided Bite die. If it happens to land on one of your assigned bite numbers, the bite is successful and the living is infected! Good work! Take them and add them to your friends group. Isn't it nice to have followers? |
- m u t a t e d m o d e -Build a different town and create a personally unique experience every time!
Currently, Lonely Undead has a Mutated Mode that comes complete with two-sided modular tiles of the town's locations and a blank town map on one side of the board. The tiles also have locational bonuses that are not in the standard version. In this enhanced version, players will take turns before the game placing the tiles and building the town based off of their goals before they set foot into it. The Mutated Mode allows for a more in-depth level of gameplay in which heavier gamers and fans of modular maps will find great joy in. This system also allows for the set-up of scenarios with new and exciting co-op and solo objectives set to release in the future (pending the success of the Kickstarted release). If this isn't something you're into, or you have limited time to play, there's always the basic town setup board to play on. Check out this neat stop-motion video!- solo, co-op, team, and other modes -Many other game modes!
Lonely Undead has the capability to expand upon several other game modes. These options include several Co-op, Solo, and Team modes with multiple difficulty levels. In Co-op mode work together with your fellow Zs to collectively infect a large group of friends, making your own personal family army! With Solo mode you'll walk alone in your quest to infect the living while the Town is viciously trying to stop you. It's a lot harder getting around when all the dogs are after only you! With Team mode players can team up to race to collect more friends before their opponent's team. This an be done with 2v2, 2v1, or even 3v1! Beyond all these options that are already included in the game, there are plans to expand the game even more in the future by adding Co-op scenarios as well as a Solo campaign. These being developed and released hinges on the successful funding of our Kickstarter on June 7th! Subscribe and join us during our campaign to help make these modes come to life! - A fun game about making friends - |
That's right....friends. This is a game about making friends. Well...sort of. Making friends is hard for a Z. There's a language barrier and people make fun of you for dressing different. Z has had to focus on their friendship tactics. First you have to attack them. Then you sink your teeth into their flesh. If they get the message then BOOM!...New friend. Tried, but not always true. You'll have to explore town in hopes of positive encounters with these Living (new friends!). These poor saps wouldn't know the meaning of hunger if it bit them! #firstworldduringanapocalypseproblems* Luckily Z has volunteered to help them. Z's Revenge has players taking turns completing a number of actions. These actions are specifically selected based on what the Z is trying to accomplish. Making friends, duh. Basically you move about the map attacking and biting the people. You think a town of living is just going to let you waltz on in (staggering looks just like a waltz) and go around making friends! They not, my friend...they not. Z's Revenge is broken up into two main phases; the Z Phase and the Town Phase. During the Z Phase, players will take their turns. After each player's actions they will look for supplies in hopes of aiding their cause (making friends...Don't forget). When all the players have finished their turns then Knockemstiff gets its turn. The Town Phase consists of the Z's suffering the reactions of the town in response to their mayhem. After Knockemstiff reacts, the Z get back to.... making friends. You knew that was coming. What you don't know is coming is all the juicy details of Lonely Undead we're just oozing to share with you! Subscribe and stay tuned for more announcements! |

More detailed gameplay, videos, and rules coming soon!
Want more details? Of course you do. Who doesn't. "I'm hardcore! I just want to know how the game works! Give me the deets! How does the town react and what could happen? What do the Living look like? What sort of cards am I dealing with here?" I sympathize with this. The Dead Lemon is hardcore too. I understand how important it is to have this information. I'm working on it. We'll soon be putting up a full rules and how to play pdf/video/you know/etc/etc. We just don't want to bite before the ripening. Until then here's this: Neat, huh? Die (as in dice, but "die" because it's a game about the undead). Who doesn't like die? Please shoot me a question if you'd like some clarification on something specific. I'm happy to help scratch the itch. |
